ICT Grant: FruitCREWS at the Symposium on Agriculture – SA2025

FruitCREWS Action CA21142 was represented at the 60th Croatian and 20th International Symposium on Agriculture (SA2025), held from 1–6 June 2025 in Bol, Brač Island, Croatia. The symposium, one of the region’s most prestigious scientific events in the field of agricultural, brought together over 400 researchers and experts from across Europe and beyond to share cutting-edge knowledge on sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, and food production. The main goal of the conference was to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and advancements in agriculture, fostering collaboration among scientists, industry specialists, and producers. The conference covered the following topics: Plant and Food Production; Animal Production and Food Quality; Agroecology and Regenerative Agriculture; Biodiversity Conservation; Agribusiness and Smart Agriculture and Youth and Education in Life Sciences.

As part of the Action’s ongoing dissemination and networking efforts and the activities of Working Group 3 (Irrigation Scheduling), MC member Nataša Čereković delivered both an oral presentation and a poster, disseminating key results and promoting the visibility of the FruitCREWS Action network. Oral presentation titled, Irrigation scheduling for strawberry crop under different management and climate conditions was based on a review paper to be published in the Symposium Proceedings, focused on how climate variability and management strategies affect water use efficiency in strawberry production. Poster presentation, Microclimatic variability and its impact on water requirements in raspberry production, derived from the original scientific research, explored how localized weather conditions influence water demand and decision making in irrigation planning for raspberry cultivation. The conference served as an excellent platform to highlight WG3’s goals, foster new scientific collaborations, and strengthen interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainable water use in fruit crop production.

Through active engagement and knowledge exchange, this event further advanced the capacity building and visibility of COST Action FruitCREWS in Europe and beyond. Participation in SA2025 has helped raise the profile of FruitCREWS Action and reinforced connections with institutions and experts from other COST countries and beyond.

This conference participation was supported by the FruitCREWS COST Action through the ITC Conference Grant.
