First Annual Meeting: Celebrating Progress
FruitCREWS proudly announces the resounding success of its 1st Annual Meeting, held at the beautiful historical setting of Ceub Bertinoro University of Bologna Residential Centre in Italy. Over two insightful days, this milestone event brought together more than 70 participants, including industry experts, researchers, and international stakeholders hailing from diverse countries outside the European Union such as the US, Egypt, Israel, South Africa, and Turkey.

The 2-day meeting was an exceptional blend of plenary discussions and a field trip that explored crucial topics at the forefront of sustainable fruit production. Engaging working groups delved into various subjects, including the assessment of physiological datasets for irrigation sensitivity, sustainable irrigation models based on physiological parameters, irrigation strategies, decision support systems, and generating guidelines for policymakers. Our esteemed speakers, numbering over 25, shared their expertise and fostered in-depth discussions that enriched the knowledge of all attendees.

A highlight of the event was the captivating workshop held on the 12th of July, where we showcased cutting-edge sensors and decision support systems from eight leading companies representing different countries. This workshop provided a valuable platform for the exchange of innovative ideas and best practices, equipping participants with actionable strategies to enhance their fruit production practices.

To conclude the Annual Meeting on a high note, participants gathered for a stimulating roundtable discussion titled “Sustainable Technologies and Innovation for Water Management – Current Situation and Solutions Adopted in Different Fruit-Producing Regions Worldwide.” Esteemed hosts from the regional Department of Agriculture of Emiliano Romagnolo Region enriched the discussion with valuable insights, further inspiring the commitment to sustainable water management practices.
