STSM: Stochastic Differential Models for Irrigation

Dr. Jasmina Đorđević embarked on a Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) from September 22 to October 2, 2023, hosted by the Mathematics Department at Minho University in Portugal, thanks to the organization by FruitCREWS COST Action.

During her STSM, Dr. Đorđević engaged in fruitful discussions within the personnel of Mathematics Department’s laboratory, which provided her with all the necessary facilities. In collaboration with her host, Professor Sofia Oliveira Lopes, Dr. Đorđević surpassed the initially planned objectives. Together, they developed two models for irrigation utilizing stochastic differential equations, meticulously describing the drift and diffusion coefficients while analyzing their properties. Notably, they established the existence of positive global solutions for both models to ensure consistency.

Furthermore, in their quest to comprehend and manage water capacity within the irrigation system from a stochastic perspective, they introduced an unconstrained stochastic problem and successfully demonstrated its existence. Their next endeavor involves delving into the intricacies of constraint problems.
